Two cases of measles have landed in Quebec

Public Health is calling for caution after two people with measles arrived in Montreal on planes from Europe in early July.

The people with measles were on board two different planes that landed at Pierre-Elliott-Trudeau Airport, one from Amsterdam, the other from Rome, the Ministry of Health and Social Services (MSSS) announced in a press release.

The first, Delta Airlines flight DL9288/KL67, arrived from Amsterdam on July 3 at 5:08 p.m. People who were at the airport between 5:15 p.m. and 8 p.m. on that date may have been exposed to measles, the MSSS warned.

The second, Air Transat flight TS403, arrived from Rome on July 8 at 3:30 p.m. People who were at the airport between 3:30 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. that day may have been exposed to the virus.

“People who visited the targeted locations during these periods are considered contacts of measles cases,” specified the MSSS, adding that other locations of possible exposure to measles have been confirmed in Quebec.

To consult the list of outbreak environments and the instructions to follow for contacts, the MSSS invites the public to consult the page Measles outbreak | Government of Quebec (quebec.ca).
