The socialists, environmentalists and communists suggest the name of Laurence Tubiana, director of the European Climate Foundation and former chief negotiator of the Paris agreements, for the post of Prime Minister. But this name is making teeth grind on the LFI side.
This is the latest proposal for Matignon. The socialists, environmentalists and communists are suggesting the name of Laurence Tubiana, director of the European Climate Foundation and former chief negotiator of the Paris Agreements. Her name had already been mentioned to lead the government, notably to succeed Édouard Philippe. This is why it is causing some teeth to grind on the side of La France insoumise.
The components of the New Popular Front had committed to proposing a name before the end of last week. Eight days later, the PS and LFI are still not in agreement. The Insoumis are setting a new condition before resuming negotiations on the name of a Prime Minister. “We demand a single candidate for the presidency of the National Assembly and will not resume any discussion on anything else until this is settled”wrote Jean-Luc Mélenchon on X. The election to the Palais Bourbon perch is to be held this Thursday, July 18.
