After a week of fruitless discussions, some parties of the New Popular Front proposed the name of Laurence Tubiana for Matignon on Monday, July 15. However, La France Insoumise withdrew from the discussions in the afternoon to “to focus” on “the presidency of the National Assembly” which will take place on Thursday July 18, indicates Manuel Bompard, LFI coordinator and NFP-LFI deputy for Bouches-du-Rhône.

Laurence Tubiana was proposed by NFP parties for Matignon. “I’m falling off my chair”reacts Manuel Bompard, who indicates that she had signed a platform to call for a coalition with all the republican forces, including the presidential camp. “This is a proposal that does not seem serious to me.”he explains. Who is the person sought by the left for the post of president of the National Assembly? “It is essential that the New Popular Front agrees on a common candidacy. (…) If the Insoumis have to give up this position (…) We will be ready to do so”he concluded.
