It’s the big day for Kylian Mbappé. The French football star is arriving in Spain, in Madrid, to join Real. He is expected on Tuesday, July 16 to officially sign his five-year contract with the prestigious Madrid club, recent winner of the Champions League. The French striker will be presented at noon as a “rock star” to the Santiago Bernabéu crowd, with more than 80,000 Real supporters snapping up tickets to come and see him.

He hasn’t played for Real yet, but there’s already a lot of interest in Kylian Mbappé. The shop at the Bernabéu stadium is full and the new number 9’s jersey is flying off the shelves. Leo came to get his and can’t wait to see the Frenchman in real life: “He is a great player, I hope he integrates well into the team and wins many titles.”

Thousands of shirts were sold in just a few days. Some fans spared no expense, like Eduardo who paid 300 euros for a shirt for himself and another for his girlfriend. “It costs a ticket but it’s worth it, estimates this fan. He is one of the best players in the world and the best always go to Madrid. I hope he brings a little more to the team so that we do as well as last season.”

Because Real are still on a league-Champions League double, it will be difficult to do much better. And many supporters like David have not forgotten Kylian Mbappé’s hesitations while he was at PSG. “For me, Kylian must earn our respect, he says. He didn’t behave well. It was yes, no, yes, then no. You can’t do that. He’s a nobody in Madrid and he’s starting from scratch.”

And even if Real’s “socios” do not have short memories, the 80,000 tickets offered by the club to attend the presentation of the Frenchman were gone in just a few hours.
