Jacques Boudet, who played many supporting roles in cinema, notably in the films of Robert Guédiguian, as well as in theatre and on television, has died at the age of 89, AFP learned from his entourage.

The actor is “died suddenly” in his sleep on the night of Sunday to Monday, near Montpellier, his agent, Pierrette Panou, told AFP.

A cult face in cinema and television, Jacques Boudet has played supporting roles for many filmmakers such as Bertrand Blier, Bertrand Tavernier, Claude Lelouch and Luc Besson.

The theatre actor joined the family of Marseille director Robert Guédiguian from his second feature film, “Rouge Midi” in 1983, and then appeared in almost all of his films, up until the last one, “Et la fête continue!” released in 2023.

A regular in supporting roles, he will play, for example, the father of Jean-Paul Rouve in the comedy “Nos jours heureux” by the duo Toledano-Nakache but also in several episodes of the Marseille series “Plus belle la vie”.
