Since Donald Trump’s election to the White House in 2016, the political climate in the United States has become increasingly polarized and has seen several episodes of violence.

Each on their own, they galvanize their troops. Donald Trump and Joe Biden, two Americas that brutally confront each other. The violence of words gives way to the violence of actions. On January 6, 2021, Donald Trump, still president, calls on all his voters to head to the Capitol. He contests the election of Joe Biden. The elected officials who are in the process of certifying the results are taken prisoner by demonstrators.

This violence against elected members of Congress continues. In the following years, several of them have been victims of death threats. A senator decided to resign last March, disgusted by the political context. A man even attacked Nancy Pelosi’s husband two years ago, then Speaker of Congress. His attack was filmed by the police. Paul Pelosi suffered a fractured skull after the attack on his home in San Francisco.
