Saint-Jérôme | Hit by a van, a sixty-year-old woman succumbs to her injuries

A pedestrian lost her life after being hit by a van in Saint-Jérôme on Saturday.

“Unfortunately, the death of the 63-year-old woman was confirmed at the hospital,” said Sûreté du Québec spokesperson Élizabeth Marquis-Guy.

The incident occurred on Bélanger Street, near Curé-Labelle Boulevard, around 12:30 p.m.

The four passengers in the vehicle, a woman in her thirties and three people under the age of 18, were taken to hospital. “After assessment, the passenger in her thirties suffered serious injuries, but they are not life-threatening,” explained Officer Marquis-Guy.

One of the miners, in critical condition, is now also out of danger.

The 35-year-old driver was met by police. The man had lost control of his van, hit a pedestrian and continued his journey into the parking lot of a nearby business.

The investigation is continuing to clarify the circumstances surrounding the event, with the collaboration of the coroner and the Saint-Jérôme Police Department, reports the SQ.
