The current weather is causing an explosion of allergies. Almost all of France was placed on red alert for grass pollen on Friday, July 12.

They are back thanks to the fine weather: grass pollen, dreaded by allergy sufferers. Repeated coughing fits and sneezing have reminded them of their good memories. The national pollen monitoring network has placed three-quarters of the country at high risk of allergies. In a pharmacy visited by the 20 Heures on Friday, July 12, a third of customers are said to be affected.

How can we explain the duration of the symptoms? The succession of rainy and sunny days promotes flowering over several months and the pollen concentration explodes. To protect against this, Dr. Carine Billard, head of the allergology department at the Grand Hôpital de l’Est parisien, recommends:“air your house early in the morning and late in the evening” and close your windows the rest of the day.
