The courts have authorized Sébastien Cauet, who was charged with rape and dismissed from NRJ radio, to resume radio and television work, “but without an audience in the studio or on the sets”, Franceinfo learned from a judicial source on Friday July 12, confirming information from Parisian.

The 52-year-old presenter has been under investigation in Paris since May 24 for rape and sexual assault on four women, three of whom were minors at the time of the alleged events, between 1997 and 2014, following four complaints. The investigation is now in the hands of the Paris prosecutor’s office.

Following a request from his defense, the Paris Court of Appeal partially modified his judicial review, i.e. the ban on making “public appearances and performances, particularly in the context of his activity as a radio host or television presenter” plot “to exercise the professional activity of radio or television presenter in public”.

“This is a first legal victory in this case and it is important.reacts Jade Dousselin to franceinfo. Justice recognizes that nothing justifies silencing a man presumed innocent.” His lawyer, who is defending him alongside Xavier Autain, also said he had requested a reduction in his bail set at 100,000 euros.

When asked, NRJ radio, where Sébastien Cauet worked, referred to the judgment of the Paris commercial court on May 7. “The commercial court held that Sébastien Cauet’s return to the airwaves was no longer possible, so that the conditions for normal execution of the contract were no longer met in the long term.”stated the NRJ press release at that time. And added at the time: “The NRJ group (…) would like to point out that it bases its activities on a set of values and ethical principles which require everyone to act and behave appropriately on a daily basis, in the exercise of their professional responsibilities.”
