Experience highlighted. The flag bearers of the French Olympic and Paralympic delegation are now known. The French athletes selected for the Olympic Games have chosen discus thrower Mélina Robert-Michon and swimmer Florent Manoudou. They will therefore carry the French flag at the opening ceremony on the Seine on Friday, July 26. They will be imitated on Wednesday, August 28 at the opening ceremony of the Paralympics by para-athlete Nantenin Keïta and paratriathlete Alexis Hanquinquant, the French National Olympic Sports Committee and the French Paralympic Sports Committee told us.

Overall, the athletes praised the experience. Mélina Robert-Michon, Olympic vice-champion in Rio in 2016, will be experiencing her seventh Olympic Games in Paris. Florent Manoudou, 33, will be participating in his third Games. Titled in the 50m freestyle in London in 2012, the swimmer from Marseille is a quadruple Olympic medalist.

Nantenin Keïta, a visually impaired athlete, also won the same number of Olympic medals and was crowned in the 400m in Rio in 2016. Multiple world medallist, Alexis Hanquinquant won gold in Tokyo in 2021 in the triathlon, PTS4 category.
