Wall Street opens slightly higher, rates fall after US inflation

(New York) The New York Stock Exchange opened modestly higher on Thursday as bond yields fell after the announcement of weaker-than-expected inflation in the United States.

Around 9:33 a.m. ET, the Dow Jones Industrial Average was flat (+0.01%), while the tech-heavy NASDAQ was up 0.11% after hitting a seventh straight record the day before. The broader S&P 500 index was up 0.03%. In the bond market, 10-year yields fell to 4.18% from 4.28% on Wednesday, after inflation slowed more than expected in June.
