On the right, as in the center, the political class appears divided after a legislative election giving the left the victory, without an absolute majority. While the presidential camp refutes any alliance with LFI, the right is split around a coalition project.
The newly elected deputies arrive at the National Assembly smiling and relaxed in front of the cameras. At least, on the surface. Because behind this facade of image hide increasingly large fractures. First within the presidential camp, where they are trying to form a coalition to govern, but which one? Not everyone has the same vision. Many rule out working with members of La France Insoumise, and some like Gérald Darmanin are now excluding the Ecologists.
Without LFI or EELV, can the outstretched hands on the right succeed? Some, like Xavier Bertrand, are considering it, but on condition that they appoint a member of their own camp to Matignon. For others, like Valérie Pécresse, such a coalition would be incapable of governing. “It’s a pretty chimera”declared the president of the Île-de-France region on franceinfo. The divisions currently seem insurmountable, and the formation of a government could take several weeks, even several months.
