The former mayor of Sanary-sur-Mer (Var), Ferdinand Bernhard, was indicted on Wednesday July 10 on charges of interference in a public office, franceinfo learned from the Toulon prosecutor, Samuel Finielz.

Ferdinand Bernhard is accused of having continued to run the city hall through the current mayor despite his 2021 conviction for illegal taking of interests, misappropriation of public funds and favouritism. At the time of this conviction, a 5-year ineligibility sentence was imposed. He is now also accused of violating this additional sentence.

He was placed under judicial supervision and is notably prohibited from going to the premises of the Sanary-sur-Mer town hall, or from coming into contact with town hall employees.
