The ship “Shtandart” finally anchored off the Sainte-Marine point in Combrit (Finistère), reports France Bleu Breizh Izel on Wednesday July 10. The Russian ship, which was banned from participating in the Brest Maritime Festival and from accessing the port, was checked by maritime affairs while it was en route to the city of Ponant. It finally stopped off the Sainte-Marie point.

The three-masted ship left Les Sables d’Olonne. On Tuesday, it was visited by the maritime gendarmerie off Penmarch (Finistère). Since then, it has anchored 500 meters off the Sainte-Marine point. Another maritime affairs inspection was completed on Wednesday.

As a reminder, the captain of the Russian ship has been banned from accessing the ports of Finistère since Sunday July 7 by the prefecture, in application of European sanctions against Russia, extended since June 24 to “historical replica ships”. Despite this ban, the captain had made it known that he wanted to ignore the prefectural order and access the port of Brest. He was to take part in the Maritime Festival which begins on Friday.
