Since its launch, the reform has improved the use of hearing and dental aids, including for the most deprived, according to DREES.

Between 2019 – the date of its launch – and 2021, the number of people who purchased hearing aids increased by 75%, according to a study by Drees (Department of Studies and Statistics).

The “100% Health” reform has improved the use of hearing and dental prostheses, including for the most deprived who benefit from complementary health insurance, according to a study by Drees (Directorate of Studies and Statistics) consulted by franceinfo on Wednesday July 10.

The sale of hearing aids has increased the most thanks to the reform that offers a basket of fully reimbursed care. Between 2019 – the date of its launch – and 2021, the number of people who bought hearing aids increased by 75% and among them, four out of 10 people chose a product from the basket.

Regarding dental care, the system was less successful: 17% more prostheses. Among them, nearly six out of 10 patients chose “100% Health”. For glasses, only 18% of people who bought optical equipment in 2022 dipped into the basket. Note that most supplementary insurance offers better guarantees in this sector.

Another point raised by the study is the fact that the most deprived, the beneficiaries of the complementary health solidarity scheme, were also more numerous in using “100% Health” for hearing, dental and even optical aids than the beneficiaries of the old solidarity schemes.

Since January 1, 2019, the costs payable by the patient have decreased for hearing aids and the reform has been rolled out gradually until 2021. Since January 1, 2021, “100% Santé” has offered all French people benefiting from responsible supplementary health insurance or solidarity supplementary health insurance, care and equipment in audiology, optics and dental care, covered 100%.
