French men’s judo team’s training camp cut short due to Covid case

The French Federation clarified in a press release on Monday that star Teddy Riner “was not in contact with the person” who had Covid.

A few weeks before the Paris Olympic Games, the coronavirus hits the French judo team. “Due to a case of Covid affecting a participant in the French men’s team’s Olympic preparation camp at CREPS in Montpellier, the French Judo Federation has decided to shorten the camp for its Olympic selections and their training partners”announced the French Judo Federation in a press release on Monday evening, July 8. The identity of the injured judoka has not been revealed.

The authority specifies that Teddy Riner “has not been in contact with the person who contracted Covid.” The Olympic judo competitions begin on July 27 in Paris, with strong medal ambitions among both men and women.
