Great chance of medals for rugby 7s, which will particularly attract attention at the start of the Olympic Games (from Wednesday July 24 to Tuesday July 30), especially with the presence of Antoine Dupont. The Stade Toulousain player is part of the list of 12 selected announced Monday July 8 by the French Rugby Federation (FFR). Victorious at the Madrid tournament at the beginning of June, the group remains essentially the same.

In addition to Antoine Dupont, Jérôme Daret, the coach of the French rugby 7s team, has called on other professional players playing in the Top 14 and Pro D2. Théo Forner (Perpignan) and Rayan Rebbadj (Toulon) are on the list, as are rugby 7s specialists Varian Pasquet and Stephen Parez-Edo. For the women’s team, the reigning Olympic vice-champion, David Courteix has called up Anne-Cécile Ciofani, voted best 7s player in the world in 2021. Caroline Drouin, Joanna Grisez and Chloé Jacquet, who participated in the last XV World Cup, are also included in the list of 12.

The French women’s team will challenge the United States, Brazil and Japan. In the men’s tournament, the French sevens will have to face the Fijians, double reigning Olympic champions, Uruguay and the United States.
