Ferrari prepares the release of its first electric model

Largely influenced by its racing side since always, Ferrari is not naturally associated with electrification, despite its hybrid efforts. This perception could be called to change with the arrival next year of its first electric model.

Reuters has learned that the manufacturer intends to market this electric creation in 2025 at a starting price of more than 500,000 euros (about CAD 736,000). This would place it among the most expensive electric models. Emanuele Carando, Ferrari’s marketing director, assured the magazine a few weeks ago Drive that this new model will have an “authentic” sound without revealing its final form.

Ferrari would therefore go ahead with this project, despite a fading enthusiasm for electric vehicles among manufacturers. Some are currently revising their electrification plans by pushing back targets, arguing that demand is not as high as anticipated.

Ferrari’s new electric model will be assembled in a new factory built in the manufacturer’s capital, Maranello. Reuters, citing a source, claims that the brand has agreed to increase its annual production volume to 20,000 units. Considering that 13,663 Ferraris were produced last year, this is a very significant increase that presents an element of risk.

If all goes according to plan, Ferrari could beat Lamborghini in this electrification race. The bull brand had announced last year that it wanted to launch its first all-electric model in 2028 in the form of a crossover with more than 1,300 hp. It will be intriguing to see how these Italian institutions will infuse their DNA, which is strongly built around the combustion engine, into these new electric works.
