A road accident that occurred Saturday evening on the South Shore of Montreal left three people injured and caused power outages affecting more than 70,000 Hydro-Québec customers.
The accident occurred around 9:45 p.m. Saturday, at the intersection of Chemin de Chambly and the viaduct leading to Highway 30.
The Longueuil Agglomeration Police Department reported that a Montérégie Auxiliary Firefighters Association bus left the road before hitting a vehicle and ending up in an electrical pylon. Two people on board the bus and another person in the car were injured.
The impact of the collision caused the electrical structure to collapse, leading to a power outage. Around 7 a.m. Sunday, Hydro-Québec reported that the power outage affected more than 70,000 customers. The time it will take to restore service is unknown.
Chemin de Chambly is closed in both directions until further notice, in particular to allow reconstruction investigators to reach the scene and analyze the scene.
Route 112 was closed in both directions due to hydroelectric safety issues near the Patenaude Street area, but has since reopened.
