Artistic Swimming | Canadian Team Wins Bronze in Budapest

(Montreal) Canadian artistic swimmers entered the Artistic Swimming World Cup Super Final in Budapest, Hungary, by winning bronze in the technical program.

“I think that at each competition, we never have expectations regarding the results, so it’s really a feeling of pride when a podium comes because we know all the efforts we put into training,” rejoiced artistic swimmer Raphaëlle Plante.

The Maple Leaf representatives (247,6337 points) presented a routine that they are currently working on in preparation for the Paris Olympic Games. “It gives us confidence before Paris, that’s for sure. However, the competition here is really meant to loosen up and take the stress off us so that we are ready to compete in Paris with joy and confidence,” added the artistic swimmer from Terrebonne.

The Americans, who had the highest difficulty coefficient (285.1667), won by a narrow margin ahead of the Mexicans, who were decorated with silver with 281.5500 points.

Despite the many adjustments that the Canadian team had to make regarding the different training pools, the coach of the maple leaf, Anna Voloshyna, did not fail to highlight the efforts that her swimmers put into training every day.

“We are currently experiencing certain situations that are beyond our control regarding the availability of the various training pools in Montreal, with a view to Paris 2024. On the other hand, I think that this is correct since it makes us stronger,” Voloshyna stressed.

For their part, Audrey Lamothe and Jacqueline Simoneau took fifth place with 224,6567 points in the technical duo event.

The Ukrainians won the duet event with a total of 260,2700 points. The Chinese were decorated with silver (252,1533 points) and the Israelis took third place (247,5649 points).

The competition continues tomorrow with the duet free program for Audrey Lamothe and Jacqueline Simoneau, as well as the team acrobatic program.
