The Pouplie is the emblematic tree of the town of Boult-sur-Suippe in the Marne. We can say that this black poplar (Populus nigra) monumental got hot in the branches, before being saved by a young woman.

Amandine Polet grew up under the branches of this enormous poplar. And she embarked on a rescue mission when she learned that the Pouplie, located on private building land, could be shot down any day.
Amandine then entered the tree for the Tree of the Year 2020 contest: “I became in a way his press attaché. The poplar was selected among 300 candidates and, above all, it was honored by the public award. This award rewards the tree which received the most votes.”

The success of the tree made it possible to resume mediation between the municipality and the owner of the land. A solution is finally found. The plot returned to the town of Boult-sur-Suippe, and the tree became common property.

Last October, the Aurora storm injured Pouplia, and Amandine Polet had to go back into action: “Aurore unfortunately hit our black poplar. A huge carpenter branch was damaged.
