Cate Blanchett will receive a special honor at this year’s Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF).
The two-time Oscar winner will receive the Share Her Journey Groundbreaker Award at TIFF’s Tribute Awards Night on September 8.
The award honors women in the film industry who help advance the careers of their female colleagues, and Blanchett will join past winners Patricia Arquette and Michelle Yeoh.
The actress of the film Tar will also participate in an event titled “In Conversation With…”, offering the public an in-depth look at his acclaimed career.
TIFF President and CEO Cameron Bailey said Blanchett was being honored as a “tireless champion” for greater equity and justice across many industries.
The festival also plans to honor Toronto filmmaker David Cronenberg with the Norman Jewison Career Achievement Award and Amy Adams with a Best Actress award at the ceremony.
The 49e The TIFF edition will take place from September 5 to 15.
