During the first round of the legislative elections, on Sunday June 30, the National Rally conquered new territories and new voter profiles, such as retirees, who until now preferred the right and the center.
In Royan, in Charente-Maritime, one in two residents is over 60 years old. On Sunday, June 30, for the first time in its history, the city voted for the National Rally ballot in the first round of the legislative elections. A vote that was above all synonymous with fed-upness, as a retired couple from the aeronautics industry explained. In this constituency, the RN candidate came out well ahead of the outgoing Ensemble MP.
Now, the RN is attracting retirees. “For me, he is not far right”assures a former LR voter about the National Rally. In Royan, the results of the first round are far from satisfying everyone. Consequently, a group of pétanque players have forbidden themselves from talking politics to avoid conflicts. Some, however, admit to having difficulty understanding that retirees like them have chosen the National Rally. In Charente-Maritime, retirees and their votes will be one of the keys to the second round.
