A second person has died from his injuries after three armed, hooded men burst into a wedding in Moselle and opened fire on guests.

A shooting took place on the night of Saturday 29 to Sunday 30 June, around 1am, during a wedding in Thionville (Moselle) where around a hundred people were present, franceinfo learned on Sunday 30 June from concordant sources. The toll from this shooting is now two dead and four injured. Asked by France Bleu Lorraine Nord, the Thionville prosecutor indicated that he had relinquished jurisdiction in favour of the specialised interregional jurisdiction (Jirs) of Nancy.
Investigation “continues under the classification of murder by an organized gang and attempted murder by an organized gang”the Nancy prosecutor said in a statement. According to the first elements of the investigation, “Three men, dressed in black and heavily armed, appeared at the entrance to the hall and shot at people who were outside.” specifies the Nancy prosecutor. “Several dozen rounds of ammunition were fired”he added. According to a source close to the case, the shooters were armed with two assault rifles and a shotgun. They arrived in a 4×4 and burst into the area around the reception hall Eden Palace where a wedding of people from the Turkish community was taking place.
These three attackers opened fire on three people who were outside the wedding hall and on two others present in the entrance hall before fleeing in their car. For the time being, the motive for this shooting is unknown, a source close to the investigation specifies that the scene is covered by video surveillance. “The investigation is entrusted to the Directorate of Organized and Specialized Crime (DCOS) of the interdepartmental directorate of the Moselle national police”indicates the Nancy prosecutor.
