The time for knockout matches has come. Italy and Switzerland are the first two nations to open the round of 16 action, Saturday June 29, at 6 p.m.Olympiastadion in Berlin. Defending holders Squadra Azzurra have struggled to convince since the start of the competition, and even won their qualification for the round of 16 down to the wire. The Nati, for its part, sometimes showed a very attractive face, especially when it held off one of the favorites of the competition, Germany (1-1).
The Swiss made a great start to the competition with a big win over Hungary (3-1) before being shaken up a bit by Scotland (1-1). Against Germany, the Helvetians, caught up in the final minutes of the match, proved to Europe that they were a serious opponent not to be taken lightly. The Blues, who were knocked down at the end of the match during Euro 2021, still remember it.
The Italians have not yet really convinced. The Squadra Azzurra had a not easy victory against Albania at the start of the Euro (2-1), a logical defeat against Spain (1-0), and a qualification obtained in pain against Croatia thanks to Mattia Zaccagni’s equalizer.
