(Mont-Tremblant) Chloé and Justine Dufour-Lapointe advanced to the final of the second stage of the Freestyle Skiing World Cup at Tremblant on Saturday.
Chloé Dufour-Lapointe placed eighth with a score of 74.83. Justine followed in 13e place, with a score of 73.04.
Frenchwoman Perrine Lafont dominated qualifying with a score of 80.69. Japan’s Anri Kawamura finished second (78.95), ahead of Australia’s Jakara Anthony (78.40).
Only the top 16 skiers got their tickets for the final, which started at 2 p.m. Six skiers will then take part in the super final.
Canadians Maia Schwinghammer (71.22) and Berkley Brown (70.92) took the 17e and 18e places. Laurianne Desmarais-Gilbert (66.50) placed 22e and Valérie Gilbert (42.95), 37e.
For the men, Mikaël Kingsbury, Gabriel Dufresne, Laurent Dumais, Jordan Kober, Brenden Kelly, Ryan Portello, Alexandre Lavoie, Julien Viel and Louis-David Chalifoux made up the Canadian contingent and they were to participate in the qualifications a little later.
As with the ladies, the best 16 from qualifying will advance to the final. The first six will compete for a place on the podium in the super final.
This final stop at Tremblant and the two competitions scheduled for next week in Deer Valley are the last opportunities for Canadian hardworkers to qualify for the Beijing Olympics, which will be held February 4-20.
