Goaltender Juuse Saros will stay with the Predators for a long time

The Nashville Predators have laid the groundwork for an eight-year extension to goaltender Juuse Saros’ contract, according to a source familiar with the matter.

The person spoke to The Associated Press anonymously because the deal cannot become official until Monday.

Echoes suggest a sum of almost 62 million US dollars for the value of the pact, which would extend until the end of the 2032-33 season.

The 29-year-old Finn has been one of the league’s best at his position for five seasons.

He initially shared the task with his compatriot Pekka Rinne, before taking his place as the team’s number 1 goalkeeper.

Saros has a 2.63 goals-against average in the NHL over 350 regular-season games.

Over the last three seasons, he has collected 38, 33 and 35 wins.

Last season, Saros finished fourth in the league in wins.
