(Montreal) A driver died Wednesday evening on Route 155 in La Tuque, in the Mauricie region, following a collision between a pickup truck and a heavy vehicle transporting wood.
The incident occurred around 6:45 p.m. at kilometer 193. Consequently, Route 155 is closed for an indefinite period, the Sûreté du Québec announced in the evening.
“According to initial information, the van, which was traveling in a northbound direction, deviated from its lane for a reason that remains unknown, before colliding with the heavy vehicle, which was coming in the opposite direction. Following the impact, the heavy vehicle caught fire. Unfortunately, the death of the driver of the van was noted on the scene,” said public relations officer Camille Savoie.
The driver of the truck was transported to a hospital to treat injuries considered minor.
A police officer trained in collision investigation is on site to clarify the causes and circumstances surrounding this fatal accident.
