(Vancouver) Forward Teddy Blueger agreed to a two-year contract with the Vancouver Canucks on Wednesday.

The agreement has an average annual value of US$1.8 million.

The 29-year-old Latvian could have become an unrestricted free agent on Monday.

Blueger tied a career high with 28 points last season, including six goals. He played in 68 games during the regular season.

He added two assists during the playoffs, in 13 games.

Blueger signed a one-year contract with the Canucks last July after helping the Vegas Golden Knights win the Stanley Cup.

In 336 games in the National League, he collected 41 goals and 126 points.
