(London) Quebecers Gabriel Diallo and Alexis Galarneau reached the second round of qualifying for the Wimbledon tournament on Monday at the All England Club.
Aged 22, Diallo scored a 6-7 (8), 6-1, 7-6 (6) victory against Tunisian Aziz Dougaz.
The Montrealer will now face Colombian Daniel Galan, eighth seed in qualifying.
Diallo is trying to qualify for the main draw of a Grand Slam tournament for the second time in his career. He was successful at the Roland-Garros tournament last month, where he lost in five sets to the Japanese Kei Nishikori in the first round.
Galarneau, 25, defeated Manuel Guinard in three sets of 4-6, 6-3, 6-2 and will now face another Frenchman, 38-year-old veteran Richard Gasquet.
The Laval resident is aiming for a first participation in the main draw of a Grand Slam tournament.
