The weather spoils some National Day celebrations

Several municipalities were forced to review the progress of the festivities for the national holiday of June 24 due to unfavorable weather conditions.

For some cities in Quebec, the National Day festivities were short-lived. Some had to cancel Sunday celebrations and others had little choice but to do the same for Monday celebrations.

This is the case of the City of Laval, which, although it was able to maintain festivities on Sunday, did not have the choice to cancel all of its programming planned for Monday.

“After a beautiful show yesterday, the daytime activities of the national holiday must unfortunately be canceled today due to the current and expected unfavorable weather conditions during the day,” we can read on the Facebook page of the City of Laval.

The municipality of Mascouche has for its part canceled only the activities planned for the afternoon. The site will reopen its doors to the public from 5 p.m. to celebrate the national holiday in the evening.

The City of Saint-Bruno-de-Montarville was forced to cancel all of its activities on Monday in the face of weather that showed no signs of improving.

“Due to weather conditions, the City of Saint-Bruno-de-Montarville is canceling all outdoor activities planned for June 24 at Lac du Village,” the municipality declared on its website.
