Since the start of the conflict with Israel, the Gaza Strip has become a huge open-air dump.
On hundreds of hectares of Gaza territory there are mountains of waste. The families of displaced people accumulate trash there in the heat without it being removed. Before the war, waste was buried; today, there are still a few collection trucks circulating in these improvised landfills, leading to deplorable health conditions.
Garbage attracts flies, worms and snakes. The waters are also affected by this situation, leading to diarrhea, stomach aches and skin diseases. The five treatment plants no longer work and the heat which exceeds 30 degrees during the day does not help either.
