Tensions remain within France Insoumise (FI), particularly around controversial candidacies. Focus on Aly Diouara, the candidate nominated by the party in Seine-Saint-Denis.
In Seine-Saint-Denis, Raquel Garrido is not invested by her party, replaced by Aly Diouara. She decided to maintain her candidacy. “This person we don’t know, who hasn’t campaigned with us, who arrives like that, we wonder why”, she denounced. But who is the candidate nominated by France Insoumise?
Aly Diouara is a territorial civil servant at the Drancy town hall, very involved in the associative sector of Seine-Saint-Denis. He has run in several elections in recent years for, he says, “place the inhabitants of the department at the center of the political debate”. At the last European elections, he campaigned for the France Insoumise list, and his positions are now being singled out. He notably described Raphaël Glucksmann as “Zionist candidate” and targeted several left-wing figures from the Jewish community.
Very committed to the Palestinian cause, he regularly refers to Israel and the Jews. On Twitter, he also attacks the lack of representation of minorities within the political class. Finally, his speeches during the pandemic, always visible on the networks, sometimes have conspiratorial overtones.
