500 people demonstrate on the Notre-Dame-de-Gravenchon site to protest against the social plan

According to the unions, the entire region will be affected by these job cuts, between 2,000 to 5,000 jobs are in danger.

Around 500 people gathered on Friday June 21 in front of the ExxonMobil petrochemical plant in Notre-Dame-de-Gravenchon (Seine-Maritime), to protest against the closure of part of the activity, noted France Bleu Normandie .

They responded to the call of the inter-union FO, CGT, CFDT and CFE-CGC, while 647 positions at the ExxonMobil petrochemical platform are threatened. They marched between the factory and downtown Notre-Dame-de-Gravenchon.

According to the unions, the entire region will be affected by these job cuts, 2,000 to 5,000 jobs are in danger. According to the latest information communicated by the unions, out of the 647 Normandy positions (677 nationally), half of the employees should be reclassified, but 330 redundancies are planned. According to employee representative organizations, the American gas and oil giant offers the minimum financial compensation that the law requires for them.

Since Wednesday June 19, filter barriers have been installed at the entrance to the complex, the unions are calling for them to be maintained this weekend, before a major day of strike on June 27.
