In Gaza, the humanitarian situation is still catastrophic, after more than eight months of conflict between Israel and Hamas. Despite the military pauses, aid still has difficulty being delivered within the Palestinian Territory.

Among the rubble and destroyed buildings, we find a few rare open-air stands in Jabaliya, in the Gaza Strip. The inhabitants of this displaced persons camp are once again experiencing a serious shortage of food. “We go from one famine to another. Before we lacked flour, now what we are going through is worse than the shortage of flour”confides one man, another specifying that he did not “neither vegetables nor fruits” but only “canned food”.

Stoppage of imports, closure of factories and restrictions on the delivery of basic necessities… Food shortages have been raging for months throughout the Gaza Strip, and hitting certain areas of the enclave harder. In total, more than a million and a half inhabitants were displaced by the fighting and bombings. According to the UN, three quarters of the population are food insecure, with the risk of large-scale famine.
