An event exhibition : Picasso, the effervescence of forms

From April 15 to August 28, 2022, the Cité du Vin will offer a major exhibition dedicated to one of the most important artists of the 20th century: Pablo Picasso. Picasso, the effervescence of forms will explore the place of wine and popular spirits in Picasso’s work, through a wide variety of themes and media (paintings, drawings, ceramics, films, etc.). Bringing together more than eighty works, the exhibition will shed new light on Pablo Picasso’s achievements and reveal the effervescent creativity that animated him throughout his life. An exhibition for the general public, as original as it is ambitious, imagined by the Foundation for the Culture and Civilizations of Wine and the historian and art critic Stéphane Guégan (scientific curator).

Positive results in 2021 despite a mixed year

Second consecutive year punctuated by the health crisis, 2021 was marked by the closure of the Cité du Vin for nearly 5 months, until it reopened on May 19. Thanks to good attendance during the summer due to the return of local and French tourists, the Cité du Vin recorded a total of 211,000 visitors. ” This is a rather positive result given the situation and the many months of closure. Especially since we have a very international profile, used to welcoming visitors from all over the world. If Spanish visitors have made a comeback (-35% vs 2019 over the period from May to December), other nationalities have not yet returned significantly like the English (-83%) Americans or Italians (-73%). We are therefore delighted to have been able to count once again this year on the growth of French tourists and the local public.. »Confides Philippe Massol, Managing Director of the Foundation for Wine Culture and Civilizations. our
