The National Union of the National Police Operational Reserve (SNROPN) affirms that two thirds of the reservists will not be mobilized this summer, although they are eagerly awaited to replace the police officers deployed on the sites of the Olympic Games. Of the 9,500 volunteers ready to swell the ranks, 6,000 are affected by “purposes of solicitation”, according to the estimate communicated by the organization to France Inter. Contacted by radio, the Ministry of the Interior disputes it.
“We had notes which fell into the departments of France, saying : ‘attention, in the coming days, or immediately for others, please cancel your planned vacations due to lack of budget'”assures Philippe Calosso, secretary general of the SNROPN. “We had all taken our professional and personal measures”regrets the one who usually works in real estate and had organized himself to be available this summer.
6,000 reservists affected by “purposes of solicitation”, it’s an overestimated number, replies Beauveau. Furthermore, they are not due to budget reductions, underlines the same source: certain local officials have in fact already used up their allocation allocated to reservists and at present, it is impossible to know whether they will obtain a supplement.
This situation concerns Pierre Théron, one of the representatives for the civilian reserve within the Alliance police union. “It’s quite absurd. We are a month, a month and a half away from the Olympic Games and no one knows how it will go for the reservists”, he denounces. However, the use of these retired police officers or individuals makes it possible to have “a more effective territorial network”.
