The RN announced on Wednesday June 19 that it was withdrawing its support for one of its candidates in the early legislative elections in Morbihan. Joseph Martin had published an anti-Semitic message on the social network “He is suspended and will be summoned with a view to his exclusion”the party told AFP, recalling that it was not possible to withdraw its candidacy.

Joseph Martin’s deputy for the early legislative elections in the 1st constituency of Morbihan told AFP that he did not wish to remain at his side, but said he did not know if he had the possibility of legally withdrawing. “I think the headquarters will come back to me on this subject”specified Adrien Villemin. “Of course, I cannot endorse in any way what was said” by Joseph Martin in his tweet, he added, affirming that neither he nor the RN federation of Morbihan had been aware of the existence of this anti-Semitic message.

Adrien Villemin declared that he was not close to Joseph Martin, that he “knows little”.I met him on a few occasions during federation meetings, he insisted. The nominations were made by headquarters, we didn’t necessarily have a choice.” In the morning, Jordan Bardella had argued, on the sidelines of a trip to Seine-Saint-Denis, that “dozens, even hundreds of nominations” had “was done in a few hours”.

Joseph Martin had already been nominated as a candidate by the RN in the 2022 legislative elections, at the time in the second constituency of Morbihan. He had collected 15.35% of the votes in the first round, without managing to qualify for the second.
