Twelve departments in central France are placed on orange alert for storms, Wednesday June 19. These are Côte-d’Or, Yonne, Indre, Cher, Nièvre, Saône-et-Loire, Allier, Creuse, Haute-Vienne, Corrèze, Puy -de-Dôme and the Loire. “This Wednesday will again see very heavily rainy storms, particularly towards the Center, the Loire Valley, as well as from Limousin to Burgundy”writes Météo-France in its bulletin. “The event has not started yet”specifies the institute, which starts the alert at 6 p.m.
On the departments placed on orange vigilance, Météo-France alerts on “sometimes violent storms” with “strong rainy intensities”. “We could thus achieve local accumulations of around 30 to 50 mm in less than 3 hours, and 50 to 80 mm over the episode”. The institute also mentions the possibility of hail, as well as “wind gusts of around 70 to 80 km/h”. The situation should improve “from the middle of the night from Wednesday to Thursday”.
