(Los Angeles) Los Angeles Dodgers right-hander Yoshinobu Yamamoto was placed on injured reserve with a strained rotator cuff on Sunday.
Tests showed no tears, manager Dave Roberts said.
Aged 25, Yamamoto is playing his first season in the major leagues, after leaving his native Japan.
He has a 6-2 record and a 2.92 ERA.
The injury was initially described as triceps stiffness.
Yamamoto won’t launch for a few weeks.
“We’re still trying to learn about him, about what he can offer. It’s also important to keep in mind that the most important part of the season is yet to come, Roberts said.
“His health is essential. Being proactive and putting him on injured reserve seems like the best thing to do. »
