England was satisfied with the minimum service for its entry into the running. Facing Serbia, the Three Lions, among the favorites of the competition, won by a short header, 1-0, Sunday June 16, in Gelsenkirchen (Germany). In the den of Schalke 04, the English delivered a very messy performance and found the path to success thanks to a devastating header from Jude Bellingham (13th), author of his fourth goal in the selection.

Despite opening the score in the first quarter of an hour, Gareth Southgate’s players never managed to take cover. Lacking precision in the last gesture, like the too-cross shot from Kyle Walker (24th) and the crossbar from Jarrod Bowen, the English also had to deal with a transparent Harry Kane (two balls hit in the first half -time).

Opposite, the Serbs, gained momentum and would have deserved to come back to the score through Aleksandar Mitrovic (20th and 59th) and especially Dusan Vlahovic, whose left-footed strike was magnificently slammed by Jordan Pickford.

Thanks to this victory, England ensures the essentials from an accounting point of view and takes sole lead of group C, ahead of Slovenia and Denmark who left back to back (1-1). Against Denmark on Thursday, the Three Lions could already validate their ticket for the round of 16 if successful.
