Wear a chef’s apron, pull out all the stops. For the banquet cooks met by the France Télévisions teams, it’s the big day. With their faces hidden, these minors, followed by the courts, prepared a meal with renowned chefs. Among them, Nina Métayer, world pastry champion, trains her team to prepare a lemon tart. “I’m quite proud, we have a chef who teaches us lots of things,” enthuses a teenage girl.

For several months, the chefs worked alongside the apprentice cooks. These are young people aged 15 to 20, taken into care by the justice system, either because they have committed acts of delinquency or because they benefit from a child protection measure. Alongside professionals, they undergo training to become cooks. Fragile profiles that Nina Métayer especially wants to give confidence to. Self-esteem is an even more important key to learning for these young people in difficulty. In Paris, Michelin-starred chef Camille Saint-M’leux, 28, also helps these teenagers. With this type of project, the Ministry of Justice wants to promote the professional integration of these young people.
