Squeezie commits “against the extreme right” | The duty

Squeezie, the second most followed Youtuber in France with 19 million subscribers on YouTube, warned against “a drastic rise of the extreme right” and called on “the young people who [l] e follow” to vote in the legislative elections, in a message on Instagram on Friday.

“Go vote on June 30 and July 7, and keep in mind that voting for a party that advocates hatred, discrimination, and fear of others has never been a solution,” he wrote to his approximately 8.7 million Instagram subscribers.

“The RN will not help you,” he also warned, in an allusion to Marine Le Pen’s National Rally, the big favorite in the legislative elections after the recent European elections.

Real name Lucas Hauchard, Squeezie, 28, is usually very discreet about his political opinions.

But after the result of the European elections and the announcement of the legislative elections, many followers on social networks demanded a position from this very popular content creator.

“I never wanted to talk to you about politics […] because everyone is the master of their convictions and I do not want mine to influence yours,” he wrote. “But I think that strongly opposing an extreme ideology that advocates hatred and discrimination goes beyond taking any political position. »

“In recent years the RN has succeeded in smoothing out its image and pretending that it is not a far-right party,” he emphasizes, before adding that “there is no shame to have fallen into the trap.”

“It is never too late to reconsider things and change your thinking,” he pleaded. An hour after it was posted online, his message had more than 400,000 likes.
