Zero waste: the challenge of a packaging-free supermarket
Zero waste: the challenge of a packaging-free supermarket

In Haute-Garonne, a supermarket only sells unbranded and unpackaged products, in order to limit waste.

Cheese, tagliatelle, chocolate, butter… Near Toulouse (Haute-Garonne), a store sells unbranded products and no packaging other than glass. In this unique brand, there is no plastic and no waste is generated. The fruits and vegetables are essentially organic and the products sold are 60% local. The concept was imagined by an agronomic engineer and his partner, concerned about the environment and taste.

“We try to give the most accessible prices possible and zero waste contributes to this pricing effort”, explains Pierre Géraud-Liria, co-founder of “Super tout nu” in Labège. With a jar of organic shells for 1.89 euros and an artisanal puff pastry for 4.19 euros, prices are often higher than in a traditional supermarket. The brand also offers a section of bulk products like in all supermarkets. A kg of organic coral lentils costs 5.30 euros compared to 6.10 euros in supermarkets. Organic eggs are also less expensive at “Super tout nu”.
