The Paris prosecutor’s office requested, on Wednesday June 12, a trial before the criminal court for six people close to footballer Paul Pogba, including his brother, franceinfo learned from the prosecutor’s office, confirming information from AFP.

Five of his people are suspected of having “organized” a meeting in the Paris suburbs on March 19, 2022, during which the player, since suspended for four years for doping, was kidnapped and robbed by two unidentified men who demanded 13 million euros from him. Mathias Pogba, the player’s brother, is suspected of having provided a “active help” to convince Paul Pogba to pay the robbers. He did not participate in the kidnapping.

Five men are being prosecuted for “extortion”, “arrest, kidnapping, sequestration or arbitrary detention of a hostage to facilitate a crime or misdemeanor, followed by release before the 7th day” and “criminal association with a view to committing a offense punishable by at least five years of imprisonment.

Mathias Pogba is being prosecuted for “extortion” and “criminal conspiracy with a view to committing an offense punishable by at least 5 years of imprisonment”. A man is placed in pre-trial detention. The five others, including Mathias Pogba, are placed under judicial supervision. The six suspects face five to seven years in prison and a fine of 75,000 to 100,000 euros.
