Rappers Orelsan, Ninho and Jul at the top of the most listened to artists in 2021

A top trio made up of rappers Orelsan, Ninho and Jul occupy the annual ranking of Snep (National Union of Phonographic Publishing). A rap year still leaving a little room for variety, with the British singer Adele and Vianney.

These figures compiled by the Official Charts Company for the Snep combine physical sales – CDs, vinyls – downloads and listenings on streaming platforms.

The Normand Orelsan, forced to postpone several dates of his new tour from January to April, due to the pandemic, dominates the rankings with his only album Civilization released in mid-November, and which already has more than 338,000 sales.

The album Ladies of Grand Corps Malade, released in 2020 and which has just been reissued, again climbed to second place with 285,000 sales, followed byNext to you of the Enfoirés (235,000).

But in total number of albums sold (or listened to on platforms), the hyper-productive Marseillais Jul wins by far with 549,000 cumulative sales for his 8 albums appearing in the top 200, including three released in 2021. Great success also for the meteorite of French rap Ninho, who takes second place in the ranking by artists with 422,000 sales for 3 albums, including his last Jefe (“chef” in Spanish), released on December 3.

The rest of the ranking still gives pride of place to urban rap and Marseille, with in particular SCH whose 5th album JVLIVS II has sold more than 230,000 copies, or Naps, author of one of the hits of the summer with The kiffance.

In terms of varieties, the long awaited 30 by the British singer Adele, released on November 19, totaled 203,000 sales and listenings at the end of December, while Vianney took 7th place in the ranking with Let’s not wait (172,000).

The famous album Versus duo Vitaa & Slimane, leading in 2020 with 417,000 sales, is still a hit in 9th position, ahead of Star hunter soprano.
