The Euro is getting closer for the Blues. The French will settle in Germany on Wednesday June 12, two days before the start of the competition (Germany-Epod Friday evening), at their base camp near Paderborn, in the northwest of the country. It’s the end of a very short vacation, with barely 48 hours of rest after the last friendly match against Canada, which ended in a sad 0-0 draw.
The Blues had an appointment in Clairefontaine on Tuesday evening, before leaving for Germany on Wednesday morning and arriving at midday at the base camp of Bad Lippspringe, a small town of 15,000 inhabitants close to Parderborn. The Blues will pack their bags in a four-star hotel with modest comfort, more spacious than luxurious, with the first activities on German soil.
A speech by two players to the press is scheduled for 4 p.m. Wednesday afternoon. The first training will take place at the end of the afternoon on the lawn of the Home Deluxe Arena, the stadium of SC Padeborn 07, which plays in Bundesliga 2., the German second division. The venue will serve as a training center for the Blues throughout the duration of the Euro, while the start of the competition is scheduled for Monday against Austria in Düsseldorf. The reigning world vice-champions, who are favorites with Germany and England, will then play against the Netherlands and Poland.
