The small town of Eauze, in the Gers, suffered from the very severe bad weather that occurred in the area on Saturday June 8. Water infiltrated several homes, forcing 27 people to evacuate.

In Gers, in Eauze, the inhabitants of a house woke up in shock. Their ground floor did not withstand the torrential rains which fell on Saturday June 8. “The bay window was torn off and it took everything away“, says Hamila Baassou, affected. The level of the stream quickly rose. The water penetrated everywhere inside her house. 100 milliliters of water fell in just 24 hours in the village, the equivalent of ‘a month and a half of precipitation.

It was impressive. Even when walking, there was water dragging us down. There was a huge current. Here, water has never entered in 57 years“, says Marie-Lou Corshete, also affected. She explains that she was very afraid for her father, living on the ground floor. 27 people had to be sheltered during the night. This is particularly the case for customers of the village campsite.
