Joe Biden and his wife are on a state visit to Paris, Saturday June 8. Emmanuel Macron deployed the splendor of the Republic to honor the solid alliance between the United States and France.

After Normandy, Joe Biden was in Paris, Saturday June 8, for his first French state visit. The two presidents and their wives first went to the Arc de Triomphe for a welcome ceremony. After the American anthem and a wreath-laying, Joe Biden and Emmanuel Macron rekindled the flame of the unknown soldier. To celebrate the restored Franco-American relationship, all the splendor of the Republic was deployed, including an air parade, and the Champs-Élysées decked out in the colors of the two countries for the occasion.

The two presidents then discussed the issues at the Élysée. Top priority was given to Ukraine. Joe Biden assured that “the United States stands alongside Ukraine”, but also “France”. A state dinner is planned for Saturday evening, after a spectacular week of commemorations, in the context of the electoral campaign for the two presidents.
