Odezenne releases his new album, “1200 meters in all”

After making himself known above all by provocative pochades with assumed vulgarity,
Odezenne surprised and amazed everyone in 2018-2019 by going out, in quick succession, At Baccarat and Pushkin, with magnificent intentions and pop intonations.

The spoken vocals of Alix Caillet and Jacques Cormary gaining in softness and maturity, and the music of Mattia Lucchini becoming more refined, it is a new level reached in this quality with this fifth studio album, 1200 meters in all, whether they are more dancing songs or more relaxing.

“We are now really starting to have fun in delusions. But until now, we saw the day after the studio what we had done without having too much control over it. After several records, we start to have a little more letting go. We are less educated when we are on the microphone. Same for Mattia, when he is on his instruments, we are freer. In fact, we are more and more free“, defends Alix Caillet.

Two years having passed since the last disc, the Covid-19 pandemic has therefore passed through there, but that has not changed much to the habits of Odezenne, who especially took advantage of this period to tighten up elbows.

Priska Caillet, Alix’s sister who had participated in several songs, died of cancer in October 2021: one song, Seen from here, accompanied by a very beautiful clip, pay homage to him. The song is symbolically placed at the end of the album, Jacques Cormary tells us, to close it with emotion.

“It is a beautiful fence. It’s a beautiful message, a very positive message. It can even soothe that side of the times when people might have a little sadness or fear, or whatever. In the middle of this album, they are also going to have laughter, lighter things, I think it’s very, very important to end with this song.“he explains.
